Green Valentine won as the best CD last year in radio FEDRA's ( Serbia & Montenegro )broadcast show "Promophone"! It was competation between more than 100 independet albums from all over the world. Why ? Singing is phenomenal, songs are beutifull and playing is original :) These CD is real diamond for every colection !

Pure pleasure to listen to its variety of songs and genres. St. Joan and Wicked are the best new tunes I've heard in 2003. The honky tonk piano on Wicked is perfect. The Rolling Stones would be proud to have similar on their releases.

This is my first exposure to Darien Brahms, but wanted to check out this CD since she is from Portland, ME. I've listened to it non-stop since I got it!! I love the diversity of the music. She has a wonderful voice that makes you want to sing along with the songs. Glad I bought this!

There's a lot of variety between song styles - tracks that rock, tracks that are more introspective, and some that are fun and funky. I can't praise it highly enough. I have all three of Darien's cds and I will definitely buy any others she puts out.

Darien Brahms Green Valentine Cover A six time winner of the "best vocalist and best performer" award in her hometown of Portland Maine, Darien Brahms' distinctive style combined with her high energy live performances have landed her opening slots for the likes of the Violent Femmes, The Butchies, Daniel Lanois, Ben Harper and Townes VanZandt. She released her first full length solo CD "Hello, Hello to the People" in 1992 and her second, "Little Bundle of Sugar"(which featured the guitar of Marc Ribot), was released in 2000. In between she fronted two rock bands and was one of the principle songwriters and front woman for the hugely successful Latin-lounge quartet, The Munjoy Hill Society, who released their own CD in 2000 to critical acclaim. She has also contributed two tracks to the "Greetings from Area Code 207" benefit CD series, a track to the national compilation, "Calling All Kings and Queens" (on Mr.Lady records). In May of 2003 she released her third solo CD, "Green Valentine."
